Mirasol Mixed Use is a 89-unit Multifamily apartment complex located in Santa Barbara, CA. Hyphae joined the design team, utilizing our interdisciplinary strengths to take on landscape, irrigation, greenroof, and stormwater flow-through planters all set on podium. Our initial goals were to create a distinct design for each garden, utilizing the repeated footprint of central spaces classifying fire, water, and farm. Along with the pool and zen garden, geometry, materiality, and plant habitats create a clear distinction, while an overall approach repeating the use of raised planters and vegetated screening to transform this 4-story multi-family project into lush spaces for gathering and reflection.
