Esalen Lodge
Hyphae is serving as the civil engineer and landscape architect for two Esalen Projects, first of which is the renovation and remodel of the Main Lodge & Restaurant. The steep cliffs of Big Sur provide dramatic landscape and grading integration opportunities, while 50-year-old facilities, infrastructure, and parking make utility coordination a great challenge. Hyphae's landscape renovations make subtle and conscious incisions into the historic Big Sur artisan crafted landscape features, while balancing the public and private community needs of Esalen with reinforcing the coastal chaparral ecology.
